Dr. Heinz C. Schimmelbusch
Chief Executive Officer & Chairman of the Board of Directors

Dr. Schimmelbusch has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2003 and he held the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Timminco Limited from April 2003 to September 2005, and was re-appointed as CEO in August 2007.

Dr. Schimmelbusch has more than 30 years of experience in the metals industry. He has been Chairman of the Management Board of AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group N.V. since 2006. 
Dr. Schimmelbusch serves as an officer or director of various AMG subsidiaries.  Dr. Schimmelbusch also serves as non-executive Chairman of the Board of a number of companies, including Allied Resource Corporation, Wayne, Pennsylvania, United States; and PFW Aerospace, Speyer, Germany; and is a member of the Board of Directors of Norilsk Nickel, Moscow, Russia. Dr. Schimmelbusch is also a Managing Director and a founder of Safeguard International Fund, L.P. In the past, Dr. Schimmelbusch served as Chairman of the Management Board of Metallgesellschaft AG from 1989 to 1993. His Directorships have included Allianz Versicherung AG, Mobil Oil AG, Teck Cominco Limited, and Methanex Corporation. Dr. Schimmelbusch received his graduate degree (with distinction) and his doctorate (magna cum laude) from the University of Tübingen, Germany. 

 

John Fenger
President and Chief Operating Officer and President – Light Metals

Mr. Fenger is President and Chief Operating Officer and President – Light Metals for Timminco Limited. Mr. Fenger was appointed Vice President – Aluminum Products in May 2004, appointed President – Light Metals in April 2008 and appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in April 2009. Prior to joining Timminco, Mr. Fenger held the position of Managing Director of Allied Resource Corporation. Mr. Fenger also held the positions of Vice President, Senior Vice President, and General Manager for the Silicon and Carbon Products, Materials, and Foundry Market Divisions of Elkem ASA (Oslo, Norway) and Elkem Metals Company (Pittsburgh, PA). Mr. Fenger received his B.A. degree in Business and Economics from the University of Iceland and has completed the International Business Management Program at the Executive School at INSEAD in France.

 

René Boisvert
President – Silicon
(President and CEO, Bécancour Silicon Inc.)

Mr. Boisvert is President – Silicon of Timminco Limited and has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bécancour Silicon Inc., the Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, since 2004. Mr. Boisvert has extensive engineering and metals experience. After 5 years in the mining and construction industry, he joined Bécancour Silicon, Inc. (BSI) in 1986 as a Senior Electrical Engineer. He was named Manager of Technology in 1998, Vice President – Operations and Technology in 2001, and President in 2004. Mr. Boisvert received a Bachelor of Applied Science (Electrical Engineering) in 1980 from Laval University in Québec City, Quebec. He also holds a patent in electrode technology and has presented numerous papers on silicon technology over the years.

 

Robert J. Dietrich
Executive Vice President – Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Dietrich has more than 25 years of accounting and finance experience. He joined Timminco in April 2006 as Vice President – Finance and Chief Financial Officer and was appointed Executive Vice President – Finance and CFO in December 2006. From 2001 to 2005 he was the CFO of MKS Inc., an enterprise software company listed on the TSX. Prior thereto from 1997 to 2001, Mr. Dietrich was CFO of Cedara Software Inc., a medical imaging software company listed on the TSX and NASDAQ. From 1986 to 1997 he held increasingly senior financial and operational roles at Mitel Corporation, a Canadian telecommunications equipment supplier. Mr. Dietrich received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and earned his CA in 1977.

 

Peter A.M. Kalins
General Counsel & Corporate Secretary

Mr. Kalins joined Timminco in September 2007 as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining Timminco, he was Legal Counsel at Magna International Inc., an auto parts manufacturing company, since 2003. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Kalins was Counsel – Securities at Nortel Networks Limited and from 1996 to 2000 he was an Associate at the law firm Torys LLP. Mr. Kalins received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1996.

 

Peter D. Rayner
Corporate Controller

Mr. Rayner has more than 15 years of accounting and finance experience and joined Timminco in September 2008 as Corporate Controller. Prior to joining Timminco from 2001 to 2008, Mr. Rayner was Corporate Controller for KIK Custom Products, a manufacturer of consumer personal care and cleaning products formerly listed on the TSX. From 1997 to 2001, he held increasingly senior positions at Teklogix International, an international wireless data communications equipment provider. Mr. Rayner is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Management Accounting. He has a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Accounting from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario.
